Modified elm327 interface

Post by scan »

In replacement for the need to use adapter cable no 3(ELM C19), is it safe to modify an elm327 by linking can pins this way:
6 connected to both 6 and 1 and pin
and
14 connected to both 14 and 9
?

For pin 7 to 12 there is a jumper already.

NO, PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS!!!

The car has 2 different CAN networks (CAN1 on pins 6,14 and CAN2 on pins 1,9). If you connect the pins this way you will make a short circuit between the two networks.... The result from this in most cases will be only a lot of stored errors in each module (which is not critical), but in some very rare cases it could cause electrical damage...

You can make this change between CAN 1 and CAN 2 using a DIP switch directlly into the interface or you can use an external adaptor
Take a look in the attashament
1. its a modified ELM327 with DIP Switch and you can switch pin 6 to pin 1 and pin 14 to pin 9
The other one it is a manual multiplexor where you can switch all k-line used in Fiat/Alfa/Lancia cars ( including the pins that are not used yet in Multiecuscan ) and a switch for CAN .
This both are made by me.
Good luck
