ELM cable connections

Post by EnIgMa »

Hi,
what do you think about a topic related to the elm device?
The "VAG KKL cable connections" topic is really helpful, so maybe we can do the same for elm device and stick them. :)

I thought about it just few minutes ago, after i opened my elm device for solder pins 1-3-7.
I did it on my vag cable with success, but this time a lot of pins are already soldered.

You can see a picture here of it:

So, do i still have to solder pins 1 and 3 to 7? (right now i don't need to connect to airbags ecu).

Then, i read this on another topic:
mihaitza83 wrote:if you haven't got an answer by now then alow me:

pin 1. abs
pin 2. unused for the moment
pin 3. airbag (srs)
pin 4 and 5 are for ground -
pin 6. Can High (ELM 327 v1.3)
pin 7. engine
pin 8, immobilizer
pin 9. electronic systems connected to dashboard cable
pin 10. bus + line
pin 11. Electric Steering (alarm, radiofrequenti receiver)
pin 12. electronic systems k lines connected to engine compartiment cable
pin 13. electronic systems k lines connected to rear cable
pin 14. Low Can (ELM 327 v1.3)
pin 15. L line
pin 16. battery power +
could be useful to solder pins 11-12-13 too? or at least pin 11 besides 1 and 3? maybe for a future feature?

Thank you very much.

Sorry, but in this Topic are no informations about the settings.

Can u say, which settings are working on a 2002er Stilo 1.6?

Thx

please, don't ruin this topic with specific car question... ;)

I just followed this simple how-to and my device is working fine. (by the way i have a bluetooth device, but i think it's the same thing).
http://www.multiecuscan.net/HowToUse.aspx

About software settings i just set the same value of what i set in "device manager".
so, if you choose COM2 and 9600baud, just use the same value on fiat ecu scan...
if you change com-port number or baud rate on "device manager" just change with same values on FES too.

I use COM2 (or 1) and 115200baud without any problem.

Back to my question:
anyone has already soldered anything on an elm cable?
have i to be one of the firsts? :D

my elm is similar and I did put in a DIL switch with 1-7-9 connected for steering and abs/engine did try the pin 3 for airbag but like it says it is not possible to work with elm I own stilo 1.9 jtd multiwagon but I am having no joy connecting to reset service interval as I have already posted here but yes the 1-7-9 soldering works fine.

Naturally I have allready did read the how to use instructions... otherwise I would not ask this question..
As I don't get a responce to my own topic I am forced to do it this way.

My OBDLINK device is working with other software but not with FIATscan.
I just want to know what settings you used on the device, pc and software.....

A really simple question with a really simple awnser.
my current settings are:

PC (com setting) 9600 baud, 1 latency
OBDlink (ELM327) device: 38400 baud (v1.4)
multiecuscan: 38400 with ELM327.

Allready tried other settings but none of them work.

I bought my elm device on ebay, it's not a fake version but still a cheaper one.
Mine is a bluetooth device and is working fine.

I tried 9600baud, 38400 and 115200baud without any problem.
Latency is always the minimum possible --> 1

I'm using windows Xp Pro and i change settings through "device manager" "My Computer --> Properties --> Device Manager --> Ports (COM & LPT)"
Done it, i do THE SAME on fiat ecu scan.

So try to set the same baud rate for windows as for FES.
