Latency too high with KL interface

Post by Keser »

Hi All,

I just started using Multiecuscan for our family cars, a Lancia Kappa Coupe and a Thesis. Nice tool! However I do have some features to try and some questions:

For now I am using an old NEC Versa520P computer, 1.4Ghz in combination with a cheap KL VAGCOM USB interface from China. As said it connects to the injection systems of both cars. However when the engine is running, checking for instance RPM, and especially when I depress the gaspedal it will report "latency too high" and connection will be lost. I have searched through the older posts on this, and all settings on the comp seem to be fine:
- latest driver from FTDI site
- latency timer set to 1
- the connectiontest in multiecuscan indicates all is well
I plan to try a faster computer, but any ideas what else I could check on this one? (I will also be receiving an ELM interface which I will try on the Thesis, but unfortunately does not work for the Kappa)

Another smaller question:, the Kappa (Bosch Motronic M2.10.3 Injection) gives:
error 05
The reason for this fault is Unknown
The current status of the fault is Intermittent / Present
As in following topic: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2183&p=6498&hilit=l ... r+o5#p6498
I presume it is indeed the RPM sensor?

Thanks for any help!

Hello

Have you ever tried it and a tick in the box marked "High latency mode" set?

What then are the values when you press the test button on the interface?

Hi Eddy,

Thanks for the reply! Indeed, I forgot to mention, I also played a bit with "high latency modus" and the various timings settings.

Unfortunately I don't have the equipment here with me, but what I recall from memory, Test is done at 4 or 5 different times (something at 1000ms, 400ms, 100ms...), and the response was everytime plus or minus 1ms from those tested times. Which indicates good functioning, or not?

Hi All,

In the mean time, I installed the software on a slightly faster computer, and the latency issue is a lot less! It still disconnects now and then, but definitely good enough to work with!

My remaining question is still errorcode 05, does sombody know what it is? RPM sensor?

Thanks!

Does your car run normally? Or it is problem when the speed is increasing - on certain RPM you have problems?

No real problems, however it does run a bit rough (idle quite low, 750rpm, a bit unstable). At speed, accelerating or any other road conditions nothing is wrong.

I'm just curious, and would like to know if something is not optimal :)

Hello
Therefore, rather than a problem with the engine with the reading?
Because if the connection remains the parameters should be correct

I don't know if it is with the engine. Nobody until now has confirmed it indeed is an rpm sensor error.
But anyway I will check the sensor when I have some time.

Long time ago one of member had same error on the same Lancia Kappa.
His conclusion after testing was that this is a bug in FES/ MES.
I had same problem long time ago on Lancia Kappa 2.0 petrol and car had problems on certain rpm. Did get stuck for some seconds on 2500 rpm and after that runs ok.
Do not know what happened later because it was 3 years ago. I think he sold the car…
