Post by JVENS »

Hello,

Can somebody please help me with this problem:
data error ecuscan.jpg
data error ecuscan.jpg (290.14 KiB) Viewed 2987 times
I can't get any connection to my ECU, or other modules. It says about 500 times DATA ERROR!!! and it ends with the screen in uploaded..

I set all the parameters as in the manual on the multiecuscan site.

Thanks,

Go to Windows : Control Panel : Device Manager : Ports

There you should find your KKL device. Open this (double click) and go to Port Settings tab. Check and set the device to 9600 bps, 8 bits, no parity, stop bits 1, flow control none.

NOTE THE PORT NUMBER - eg COM5

Now try MES again with the recommended settings form the MES manual and the correct port number.

If this fails then go into MES, hit PF9 (settings) and select the Intefaces Tab. Check the settings on Interface 1. This should be K-Line and ComX.

Also make sure you do actually have a KKL interface and not an ELM interface as setting the wrong one will also cause you problems.

If you have two interfaces then I suggest set them both up in MES.

Point to note! Always try to use the SAME USB socket on your computer. This will ensure that the same port number is used.

Plug the KKL interface into you chosen USB socket. Go into Device Manager (as above) and check and note the port number.
Now remove the KKL cable and plug the ELM cable into the same USB socket. Go back into device manager and now check the port number, which will almost certainly be different.

Now is MES settings set up Interface 1 with the ELM port info and other settings and then set up Interface 2 the KKL port info.

Now you should find the MES will select the right port and other settings depending on which interface is connected to the computer.

I have the same problem (DATA ERROR during test interface). K Line interface, FTDI USB to Serial, same USB port used, .NET3.5 activated in Windows 8.1, the settings are as specified in FAQ.

The car is 156 1.9JTD 16v.

The interface is new, checked the continuity, PIN7 is connected, the interface powers on (LED on).

I don't know if the problem lies with the interface or with windows 8.1. I used this laptop with Win 7 and other K Line interface and worked without problem. Unfortunately I can't revert to Win7 right now.

Any impressions?
