Hi there,
I have a registered (E49.95) version of FES and am using an ELM327 cable. My car is a 2004 Punto 1.2 8v.
I believe that all the ECUs can be read from the one OBD2 socket, in the fusebox near the driver's knee. I can connect to the engine ECU, but no others. I get the error message 'ELM327 ->ECU connection failed! Check your cable and port settings'. I've tried an F11 scan, which only finds the engine ECU, and no others. When I test the connection under 'Settings', it comes back all ok.
I have the cable on Com port 2, at baud rate 34800, with a latency of 1 (lowest setting). According to the 'Supported Vehicles' section of this site, no adaptor lead is necessary to view the EPS ECU.
I have a feeling I'm doing something wrong, but I can't see what. Why can I connect to one ECU but no others? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Darren.
Only connects to Engine ECU, no others.

Hello Rockpile
Presumably you have a ELM327 cable that can not read CAN.
How it Yani've described on the main page.
And to your ABS control unit can read, you need an adapter cable
so that the pin 1 of the OBD connector is connected.
The airbag control unit is only a KKL interface or an OBD key
to read.

Re: Only connects to Engine ECU, no others.
Hello Eddy, thanks for your reply.
I've just tested the ELM327 using the F9 'Settings' function, and got the result "This interface is compatible with ELM 327 1.4! Should connect properly with all CAN modules."
I am puzzled why it works with the engine ECU, and no others.
Greetings, Darren.

Re: Only connects to Engine ECU, no others.
Hi Darren
This statement of the test functions have also have the ELM327 will not work.
This statement says nothing.
Open your interface and see if there this Resistor R04 is installed.
In some interface, it is the R14
If so then remove it and you can use your ELM327 for CAN
For your ABS you need an adapter or solder a connection from
Pin 7 to pin 1

Re: Only connects to Engine ECU, no others.
Many thanks Eddy,
I followed Yani's instructions by soldering capacitors and resistors into the circuit and my lead now works perfectly.

Re: Only connects to Engine ECU, no others.
hello to Yani
does this goes the same for elm327 bluetooth edition? about the resistor 4 or 14 ... is there any specific location it should be near to any of the pins?
