Proxi alignment after changes

Post by Alfa669 »

HI, got an issue with the Valeo parking assist on my Brera. In MES CAN Setup/PROXI alignment procedure and under Adjustments and Parking sensor info, the on screen option is disabled, however if you set it to enabled it states that a PROXI alignment is required but if you try that it then says all modules are configured correctly and does not run the alignment?

as abarthmultijet wrote, after making change you need to perform proxi alignment.
however on Brera parking sensors on screen display won't work.

Yes I know but it won't run the proxi alignment. On my previous Brera when there was an issue with the parking assist the dash display would flash up a warning that the parking help was unavailable so I'm assuming that this is what the "On screen info" setting is referring to?

The reason behind this is that I have just got another Brera and the parking assist is not working but there are no warnings on the dash and no errors in MES, the valeo parking module is recognised in MES , none of the sensors buzz when you go near or touch them. As the display info option was disabled I wanted to see whether enabling it would display the parking assist unavailable warning.

this option displays car's diagram on cluster with parking sensors and obstacle location. works only on front+rear PDC systems on 159 models. as Brera/Spider never had front PDC sensors it doesn't work.
it has nothing to do with what you want to achieve.

Sorry, but that appears to incorrect as after following abarthmultijets instruction I have enabled this function on my Brera without PDC sensors at the front, it does appear that my parking assist is working as the display changes depending on how close to the object the car is, what doesn't appear to work is the audible warning.

if you've ever seen how it works on 159 then what you see on Brera I would not call it "working system" - it can't recognize where obstacle is, it just shows that there is one and beeps/displays it getting closer/futher but can't tell you whether it's left/center/right.

anyway, as for the sound you should have error in PDC system. if there is none you'll have to get to PDC speaker which is located in the back of car, not don't remember if it's behind left or right interior panel.

Yes, it sort of works. Why they didn't implement it like it is on the 159 then is a bit odd. The PDC speaker, on the Brera, is under the centre console, which is a pain as that means seats out. I have just finished and have found that a previous owner had actually replaced the speaker with a bulb! Suspect it's acting as a resistor, why someone would this? who knows?
