Yani has a real problem / issue to address with the sale AND usage of his software. Take it form me he is a) working hard on this b) desperately trying to find a solution. Sadly solutions will always compromise some users. This compromise has not been ignored because there are closer contacts to Yani who are trying to help him find a practical solution.

A commercial program (and or hardware) with Multiecuscans ability will cost upwards of 500 UK pounds and then require regular paid supscription updates to be current.

Simple generic EOBD software, which only covers basic engine ECU and in many cases emissions reltated issues is readily available free of charge from numerous sources. Software that covers more than this basic legal EOBD 'footprint' is where companies will look to make a pruduct offering and hopefully a revenue.

Yani / Multiecuscan is no different. Prior to his annual license ANY body/company/garage could download Multiecuscan use it and charge multiple customers money for just reading an ECU code and then charge more for clearing the fault.

I'm 100% in support of Yani's license change BUT VERY MUCH in support of how he can separate indiviual private use from commercial exploitation.

I guess we have to wait and see what transpires.

While I agree in principle that there should be a differentiation between private use and commercial use, it's incredibly difficult to define the boundaries between the 2, so could be a problem to police.

One way that some diagnostic tools do it is to have a home user version that locks to the first VIN (or with some packages the first 3 VINs) it encounters, but that would then mean that someone with a couple of Fiats in the family who replaces both cars with newer models would lose access, unless they pay for a commercial license.

If it's done on a 'trust' basis, where you ask people to purchase the correct package for their usage, a lot of garages are just going to buy the home version.

I'm more than happy that there will be a annual charge. This is healthy behaviour for a product to continue to be developed.

As a 'professional' user I think its fair to pay more that a hobby user.

Maybe the way to encourage more 'professionals' to pay extra, is with support and features, like the current 'registered' policy. Then it kinda polices itself.

For me key programming would be very welcome. I would gladly pay extra for that alone

The version was bought in 2.x

Will the lifetime upgrade be touched or untouched?

Yes I believe you are still covered for life.

Change only affects NEW license PURCHASES and not exchanges of license key when changing PC hardware/operating system.
