Set Up Problem, ports and drivers

Post by purple145 »

HI

I ahve just bought the full version of ECUScan, having used the trial version a couple of years ago

My issue is this, I cannot get the programme to talk to the car. The cable is fine, as it worked successfully previously, the only change is the computer. I have selected various port numbers to try to get it to work and it still will not.

Is there a one hit solution I can use to get to solve the problem, or is it a matter of messing with the computer for ages?

Thanks in advance.

Ok, first things first, what cable are you using?

If it's an ELM or KKL cable, have a look in the ports setting of the Windows Device Manager - the interface will show as a USB > Serial Convertor / Adaptor, with a COM port number assigned to it.
That's the COM port number you need to select in FES.

If it's an ELM, the interface speed will depend on which version you have. Most use either 9600 or 38400 bps.
