159 engine connection error

Post by a2themfk »

Hi, im trying to connect to a 159 1.9jtdm and im having trouble connecting to the engine and ABS ecu's. Im able to connect to all the others with no problems, im using the ELM 327 1.3+ cable.
Has anyone else had this issue and any pointers would be apperiated

The ABS Module needs Adapter 1 in order to successfully connect to it. For the engine, I observed that ELM had trouble connecting at 38400 baud and I was only successful at connecting at 9600 baud rate. Try that.

Thanks for the quick reply but ive tried both reducing to 9600 for the engine and ive been trying the adaptor 1 as it prompts you in the software, and still nothing. Its funny how im able to connect to all the others ecu's and reset faults etc

Try changing the COM port and then reboot. It once did the trick for me. I always got an error when connecting to the engine with baud rate 38400 and it always connects to all the other modules just fine. I always changed the COM port and the baud rate, so I just assumed that the baud rate did the trick. You should experiment. Also, you might want to check this: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1493 .
