keycode not accepted

Post by sponcom »

Hi All

my vehicle (alfa 147 2.0 TS) will not accept my electronic keycode for the vehicle. In the UK the code is not supplied with the vehicle and you have to buy it from the dealer. I have purchased it and the dealer is insistent it is the correct code for the vehicle on the fiat database.

I am pretty sure that the body computer etc. are all original and the keys are the original keys. Does anyone know of any other reason the code might not be accepted. Fiat ECU scan is communicating with the body computer as it is locking me out for 30 minutes after 3 incorrect tries.

many thanks

Paul

What year is the vehicle ?

Did you get the code printed out or written on a piece of paper, or on a card ?

It should be 5 digits, and is often called the electronic code.

I'm an autolocksmith in the UK. Its not unknown for the dealer not to have recorded the correct code for the vehicle.

Also check the battery voltage, if its less than 12V, the car may still start but wont program.

Hi Rickey

It's printed on paper and was printed from the main dealers system. It has all the correct logo's etc. it's five digits and was generated from the VIN number on Fiat/Alfas system. I had to take the V5 in to prove ownership etc.

Thanks

Who knows what is wrong?
Maybe somebody in the past changed both keys and code reader from another used Alfa?!?

I had one case like that... Could not program the alarm, remote control and blinkers...

You can read the dump from BSi and generate a code from dump with ICC Code Calculator.
My opinion.
You can try to start engine with your throttle pedal ( pressing succesiv on throttle pedal and do a pause between digits )
You can see if it's start then the code it is good.
Good luck
