No Live Data?

I am a new user and I hope I am not asking a very silly question? I am connecting to a 2002 Seicento 1108 which is all fine and I am getting error codes, etc but no live data on the Parameters screen and therefore no graph. The engine will not start but it is injecting and sparking when I turn it over so I was expecting live data or does the engine have to run for a certain amount of time? I am really struggling to get this thing going so any help would be appreciated!
