To access the Xenon headlights, aswell as the CAN connections, your adaptor 3 cable needs to have a connection from pin 7 on the tool side through to pin 12 on the car side.
A lot of adaptor 3 cables may not have this, as it was added to the specification for adaptor 3 relatively recently.

So if you have a multimeter, see if your adaptor has the right pins connected - if not you'll either need a new adaptor, or will need to modify it.
If it helps, the adaptor 3 cables sold by Gendan have always had the pin 7 - 12 connection, so if you know anyone with a Gendan cable set, it should work ok with that. (if not, Gendan sell the adaptor 3 cables separately)

If you bought them from Gendan then the right connections should be there, as Gendan's adaptor 3 cables have always had the extra line connected.
It could be worth buzzing out the cable with a multimeter to check all is well though.
What error is it giving you?
