FES won't connect with Adapter Cable 3
Re: FES won't connect with Adapter Cable 3
This is my adapter:

And I also bought a new ELM 2 days ago:

But it still wont connect when using the adapter
Perhaps I can try a Grande Punto 1.2 8V tomorrow, but not sure yet.

Re: FES won't connect with Adapter Cable 3
So I tried another car, a Fiat Grande Punto 1.2 8V, exactly the same problem with both ELMs....
I also tried the tipp from Electronic-Fuchs:
Setting the "USB to Serial" Speed from "9600" to "38400" and the Latency Timer on 1.
Still the same, using the adapter cable 3 I cant connect.

Re: FES won't connect with Adapter Cable 3
Ok, so it seems that there is some problem in the adapter (even though it seems ok when tested with ohmmeter).
Another thing that I can suggest here is to relocate 2 wires inside the ELM interface and connect without adapter cable.
You just need to disconnect the two wires going to pins 6 and 14 on the back side of the OBD connector of the ELM interface and connect them to pins 1 and 9 respectively. This way you will be able to connect to Body Computer, Dashboard, etc. without adapter 3.
If, after this modification, you can connect to Body Computer and Dashboard then you can be 100% sure that the problem is in the adapter.

Re: FES won't connect with Adapter Cable 3
The problem is, the idea of rewiring the ELM I tried already before I bought the adapter but this also didnt work (this was the reason for buying a real adapter).
Re: FES won't connect with Adapter Cable 3
Do you have access to a simple multimeter / ohmeter / continuity tester?
If so then you can check your adapter cable wiring against the wiring shown on this site.
If you are unfamiliar with doing the type of check then the process is simple.
Take your adapter cable and connect with the tester to one pin/socket on one end of the cable. Now sequentially at the other end of the cable connect to each and every pin/socket.
Now make a simple record (note oc = open circuit; sc = short circuit)
Compare the results to the wiring diagrams for adapters on this site.

Checking with a multimeter is no problem, compared to the wiring diagram on this site the adapter cable is fine...
Any other ideas ?

Hi, I've the same problem... Anybody figured out? My car is a 500 Twinair.
I'm not using an adapter, just installed a dip-switch so I can change the pins...

The problem is in the interface. See viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1493

Re: FES won't connect with Adapter Cable 3
I've tried to read that topic but it's too big and I'm losing between the pages... What's the problem of my interface (is the chinese green and blue one) It's fixable or I need another one?
