Why do the ELM Interface v1.4 and v1.5 not Multiecuscan?

Post by Alfaeddy »

Hello

I bought a CAN simulator to test ELM327 interface.
And now I have found that you can with the software and no matter which interface ELMScan (1.3/1.4/1.5) CAN be contacted.

With FES can not I connect to the simulator

And since it is very difficult and I hardly find a dealer which I can provide ELM Interface v1.3.

Why is this the v1.4 or v1.5 work with other software but unfortunately with FES?

Once asked layman.
Is it not possible to use this interface without re solder it?
Since they work with other software too.
Why is this?

So far, I give all to the seller, you can provide me with only ELM v1.4.

Thanks Eddy

1.5 does not exist, it's the fake version of 1.2 or 1.3
1.3 is the common version and 1.4 is the newest one.

I think, and it's just my opinion, you have troubles with FES because it sends/requires specific codes to connect to the ecu....instead of generic softwares..

I mean, to get a connection is not just a request you send to the ecu..FES need to gather some specific data to establish a connection.
Generic softwares, instead, use generic commands.

Did you try the "test" button under "settings" --> "interfaces" ?
It just try common commands based on elm protocol, maybe it works.

EDIT:
i re-read your post...
I don't get the point.
If you have an elm device, why are you trying it with a simulator?
Try it directly on your car, easier and quicker. :)

Hello

Thanks for your answer
My Alfa 156 has no CAN, so I can not test the ELM on the vehicle.

True, there is no v1.5 of ELM, but also no V1.4A only v1.4b
why are the V1.4A replicas.

I bought the Simmulator because I wanted to test the function of the different interface.
And since all the interface only in the area have problems CAN
I bought a CAN simulator.

Only I can control with FES not this
Therefore, I tested the function with ELMScan
This software works on all ELM Interface CAN

Therefore, my question is why the problems exist only with FES.

I am a curious person :-)

I can't understand what you are trying to do and why you are trying to do it, but:
- The CAN network in Fiat/Alfa/Lancia is different from the CAN network in other vehicles.
- To connect to the CAN network in Fiat/Alfa/Lancia you need ELM 327 1.3 or newer. The earlier versions simply DO NOT support the CAN protocol in our cars. And I'm talking about the REAL version of the ELM interface. The chinese clones use many different version numbers which do not properly reflect the actual version of the ELM software inside.
- The hardware modification is because the electrical interface in Fiat/Alfa/Lancia has problems with some termination circuits.
- Multiecuscan does not use generic EOBD diagnostics as the other softwares you tested, and it is designed to connect ONLY with Fiat/Alfa/Lancia vehicles. I don't think that this "simulator" can simulate Fiat/Alfa/Lancia ECUs. Can you simulate a Fiat Body Computer or a Fiat Instrument Cluster with this simulator?

You are simply trying to compare completely different things.

Hello

Thanks for your info Yani

My Alfa 156 year 98 has not yet test the CAN Interface
and since my friends connection problems with your ELM327
I have here in the forum of the change of the capacitors and resistors
read.
And then I heard from another friend of such simulators for testing purposes
I thought, so I can test a connection using the ELM327 to FES.

I did not use the Alfa / Fiat / Lancia another CAN and hence my reasoning is wrong.

Thanks for the info
