Hi, tried to do actuator test on high speed fan and aircon compressor clutch.
Punto MK2B 1.4 Sporting 2004
both tests failed, but low speed fan came back successfull and fan does work when engine temperature gets hot enough.
does the engine need to be running to run these tests? as I just had it on ignition position 2.

I will check the fuse for the aircon compressor and relay if 1 exists, could be a blown fuse, because the connector that goes onto the compressor was left hanging down unplugged for a long period of time.. no idea how long... at first didnt know what it was until the compressor was changed.. so could also be a dodgy connection inside the connector.
compressor came off a working car and was lower mileage than the original, so nothing wrong with compressor so must be an electrical problem.
no idea why fan test failed on 1 speed, will have to check resistor pack on that.
just thought though... because the aircon compressor has a pressure switch, would that stop the actuator test if the car has no gas in it?
guess it could to save the compressor being engaged with engine runnin lol, but doesnt explain the fan.

Fan 1 is the rad cooling fan
fan 2 is the aircon cooling fan
No resistor pack is fitted to engine bay fans, you must be thinking of the internal heater fan.
There's a high pressure and low pressure switch this will affect the aircon performance if there's too much or too little refrigerant,
also to protect the compressor if there's no oil and r134
The FES should activate the fans regardless of these conditions

Hi, there is a resistor pack that controls the speed 1 and speed 2.
top right hand corner of the radiator cowling you have 2 plugs, which plug into a unit... thats the resistor pack, its what gives it the 2 speeds, had to change them before on other cars... not a fiat though.
if it should activate regardless of the pressure switch, then only thing I will have to have a route around lol check the fuses and relays, cant think what else would cause the aircon clutch test to fail.
Fan I can test the resistor pack by applying direct voltage.

Yes I made a mistake theres a Low speed resistor for Fan control
This could be the problem.

now just the aircon compressor actuator fail to sort out lol.
compressor is good as far as im aware, came off a working car.
