Elm 327 ver 1.4

Thinking of getting elm 327 ver 1.4, do you still need to carry out mod to pins to read airbag,powersteering,abs modules
with Ecuscan

Yes you still need to do the mod/linking of the pins. However please see (2) below

(1) - What ELM *adds* over KKL is the addition / ability to connect and talk to CAN-Bus.

(2) - What ELM *loses* over KKL is the ability to connect and talk to KWP81 (Fiat 9141) protocol which is used for AirBag diagnostic

(3) - Given (2) then then connection of Pin 3 to Pin 7 will still not allow an ELM interface to talk old KWP81 airbags, hower making to mod does not do any harm keeps a level of consistancy for both KKL and EML interfaces.

(4) - Any airbag system that supports/uses CAN will work with ELM, however I don't know if any Fiat uses CAN based airbags yet.

Thanks s130 I have ordered elm 327 and vagcom kkl interface,s so i have the best of both worlds
