hi,
sorry for the newb question, but could someone define (or give a pointer to a resource that defines) the airbag naming convention, ie. selecting an identifier at random,
MY 97 Airbag (2F-2P-2L-2T-I)
does 'MY...' refer to manufacture year ?, and what do the other alpha-numeric codes represent (presumably airbag positioning) ?
secondly, is this naming convention principally to allow the identification an airbag system from knowing the position and number of airbags are in a vehicle, or do the ECU units themselves also adopt this naming convention ?, ie. would the 'MY...' identifier typically be referred on the external labeling on an ECU unit itself, or in the firmware of an ECU unit
reason for asking is in respect a 1999 fiat punto 60 drivers side only airbag system. The ECU is labeled TRW model 46517272 202862-104, but there is no reference to a 'MY...' identifier
thanks,
Ed

Re: meaning of the MY... identifier
cheers s130 & Yani, that is the deal
so is it typical for an ECU to reference a type codes, or are the codes merely a way of identifying a particular vehicle's airbag system
thanks
