2009 Grande Punto Android Auto Proxy alignment

Post by AdamST205 »

Have purchased a 2009 Grande Punto Tjet for my daughter to learn to drive in and have upgraded the stereo with a Chinese Android Auto to update it a little bit. All working great but the steering wheel controls do not work and the mileage is flashing. The Chinese unit came with its own little can box (simplesoft) and some of it works as the reverse camera function works flawlessly and have it all wired up to the rear bumper.

From what I am reading is that the car will need a Proxi alignment at least to remove the flashing mileage.

When i removed the original head unit I only used the ISO cables for the new head unit and left the blue and me cable unplugged as it has nowhere to go on the universal headunit. Do i need to remove the Blue&Me unit completely then try and proxi it out of the car? Would that then allow the steering wheel controls for the new head unit to work or do I need to do something else with the CAN system?

I take it is impossible in these FIAT CAN based cars to just splice into a signal wire for the steering wheel controls with the new head unit?

Ended up buying a new canbus module named "hiworld" and that fixed the issue. No need for a proxy and no flashing mileage. Left Blue and Me connected too. No issues.

Hopefully no battery drain when blue and me module is still plugged in
