Hi All,
Question if anyone experienced this, related to Lancia Delta, but I know Alfa Giulietta and Fiat Brava have similar systems:
I Have a 2014 Lancia Delta with factory radio/navigation unit and Blue&me. I'm trying to replace it with an aftermarket Kenwood with android auto. In all cases below proxi alignement fails to execute properly:
- with the Kenwood installed
- with no radio connected
- with an android unit, coming straight from another Delta
Proxi alignment does not finish properly, and after reconnecting the radio still shows in the list of possible systems, with a dash behind it while it should have been gone. The car will obviously go into flashing odometer mode... Only when putting back the original unit I can do proper proxi alignment and everything is fine(but leaving me stuck to the ancient navi unit)
I did the same procedure the past years with two other Deltas and everything went perfectly. So it is a bit of a surprise to me.
Any idea what could go wrong?
Thanks for the ideas!

Nobody an idea or hint what could have gone wrong?
Maybe I should have posted this better in Usage Q&A?

Re: Proxi alignement issue after factory navigation removal
I'm sure someone will hopefully respond in detail.
My understanding is that a normal/standard Proxy Alignment only works to install/configure etc. original factory units fitted to the car. This is because (I believe) the Body Computer contains the relevant factory installed configuration data for the factory fitted units.
When installing no factory fitted kit then a Custom Proxy Alignment is required. This means one has to retrieve the current Proxy Data (MES does this), save it for safe keeping, and then edit the data and store that back to the body computer.
The data editing required is:
1) Possibly extending the number of bytes with 00s to a new data length
2) Changing certain byte values
Note! I have no experience of doing a Custom Proxy but others here on MES forum have. Hopefully someone will be able to tell you what changes you need to make to support your chosen head unit.
Lastly. There is no public information about what all the bytes do in the body computer. They control the DNA of your vehicle and randomly changing bytes can be very dangerous and could even possibly "brick" your car so please tread carefully.

Re: Proxi alignement issue after factory navigation removal
Thanks for the info! I have no experience with that in depth tweaking of the info stored in the body computer. Still strange that everything works out fine with the two (older) Deltas without special steps other that proxialignment once the stock navunit is removed. These were 2008 and 2010 cars. The one I have the issue with is a 2014 car.
That year is even separately mentioned in multiecuscan, however reading the computers works only with 2008-onwards model from the selection list. So I guess mine is formally a 2013 model.

Re: Proxi alignement issue after factory navigation removal
If i want to know the build year of a car i look at the stamps on the side windows of the car. (If you don't know what i mean, look at it on google.

If you want the actual build date and other info about your car then send me a PM (personal message) with your full VIN number.

Still have not found a solution for removal of the factory Navi. Maybe below log file helps to generate ideas? It shows a timeout error, is that correct behavior after removing the radio/nav?

Re: Proxi alignement issue after factory navigation removal
Disconnect kenwood radio unit and anything else what is not original and do proxi alignment.
Then wait for timelatch and connect it.
It may work correctly

Re: Proxi alignement issue after factory navigation removal
Hi chrener, alessandrosx,
Thanks for your comments! Only found them now, after the holidays.
I tried as well without radio unit: same result: proxi alignment does not finish correctly (timeout error on the radio/nav).
Additionally i tried using someone elses newer multiecuscan version: same timeout error as result and flashing odo.
Compared to the cars were i did this activity succesfully, this car has the slighty modernized radio/nav with additonal aux.
My next experiment will be to plug in an older navigation, and see if proxialignment can handle that successfully.
