Giulia odometer reset

Post by gigem75 »

For reasons unknown during service reset 999,999 was entered as the odometer reading. The displayed odometer reading shows - _ _ _ _ _ _. Can the dealer reset the correct mileage. Is there a way out of this predicament?

dealer and their tools are of no use in this case. only specialists who do mileage correction could help you now.

Thank you. The ones I've searched for just require the cluster. Is it correct to assume the ECU needs to be reprogrammed in addition to the IPC which means the whole car must be present? I'm in East Texas if anyone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!!

Is it even possible to reset the mileage in the ECU? It should read 34,556 miles.

to modify cluster would be enough. mileage in ECU stays original as far as I know.

As mentioned before on these forums engine ECU mileage often does not correspond with cluster/odometer mileage. The odometer mileage is the master value which is then used by the Service Node. Other mileage reading in other ECUs/Nodes may not be in sync with the vehicles odometer.

If one could adjust the engine ECU mileage I suspect it will remain correct for a very short period of time drifting away from the odometer value.

Took the car to the dealer today. Warranty is going to cover a new instrument cluster. Fine by me, I just hope it works.

Apparently the dealer can fix my problem. I took the car in on a Thursday where they determined the IPC failed and would be covered under my extended warranty. They ordered the new IPC that Thursday and had it the next Tuesday. The dealer is a hour away so I went back the following Friday and they had it installed and ready in an hour and a half with my odometer reading the correct 35 something miles.
