Fiat 500 airbag issue - B0101-16 Control Unit Power Supply

Post by Richtea »

Hi Folks,

Can anybody help me with this issue, plaguing a fiat 500 i have bought my niece as a 1st car?

The airbag light was on. I bought and registered MES to interrogate this and got the code of B0101-16 which suggests low voltage. On MES, the airbag module shows 12v with engine off and 14v with engine running.

I can communicate with the airbag ecu, it will show me all the parameters such as resistances etc. The fault wont clear at all though, no matter what i try.

I have cleaned everything, reseated connectors, the lot.

Any ideas? Could it be an internal fault?

For a 500X I have:

334 - 500X 1.4 Turbo MultiAir Power Supply - Circuit voltage below threshold B0101-16

So yes I agree with what you find.

The Fiat fault diagnosis and fix for this focuses on the main vehicle battery condition, state of connections (oxidation etc), wiring continuity.

Suggest you try another main battery and clean all the connections.

Thanks. Turned out the airbag ecu was faulty, probably water ingress from the blocked scuttle drains...

New module bought and proxi aligned... all working now!
