Engine ECU Status - What does it mean?

Post by mprowe »

Hi,

I'm using Version 4.0 to look at a Fiat Ducato (type 250) 2.2 Multijet.
If I drill down via "Body | Connect | Parameters" to view the "Engine ECU Status", the yellow help pane suggest that the valid response should be "Virgin or Programmed".
What is the implication of any other response? For example if the response is "Faulty", how is this determined?
Does the Engine ECU have a "Faulty" flag that it (the ECU) can raise due to some internal coding/testing?
Or it it just the fact that MultiECUscan does not receive the "Virgin" or "Programmed" signal?

Regards, Martin
