Access to com3 denied message after new windows 10 update

Post by lyle wheeler »

Since my laptop upgraded itself to the latest windows 10 i cannot set up connection to adapter.
Using OBDLink SX usb cable. latop recognises the cable in device manager but in mes setup i cannot get the software to recognise the cable.
Error message "access to com3 denied" if i try to auto scan for interface i get a timeout error.
Getting a little frustrated.
Have also a vag cable and an ELM5 cable and can't get either of those to link up either.

An ideas Yani would be greatly appreciated

so after many hours spent playing with registry keys and all sorts of mischief on my windows 10 laptop and still not being able to get it working since the last windows update, (previously MES was working fine) i have resorted as last ditch to carry out a complete laptop reset which has reverted it back to the original preloaded windows version which has removed the update and everything else. Re downloaded MES 4.0 and registered it again.
Hey presto MES now fully functional again (feels like I've won the lottery). So if anyone having the same issues of no matter what com port you try to use you get access to com port denied within MES its the Windows update thats causing the problem.
