Error during Phoenix wheel reset

Post by toleressea »

Hello everyone:

I have a Fiat Punto 2013 with a Magneti Marelli IAW 5SF3 CF4/EOBD Injection (8V) ECU. I've changed the timing belt and changed 4 tappet shims. To do this I also removed the camshaft.

Then I timed the camshaft and crankshaft using the timing tools for the 350A1000 engine and placed the timing belt. After completing the task I started the car and no problems were reported by the car. The idle was OK and no strange sounds were audible.

After one day the check engine light turned on continously (no flashing) but the idle is still OK and no strange sounds appeared. So then I used MES version 4.0 to check DTC errors and it displays an intermittent P0016 error. I also noticed that the spark plug phase is about 20 - 26 degrees and the phase variator position has a status of Not learned. After checking that, I tried to do Learning Parameters Reset which was successfully accomplished and also a Phonic Wheel learn, and this is where I got an error.

When trying to perform the Phonic Wheel learn with MES I'm getting a "request out of range error" and no other information.

Has something similar happened to anyone?

Please help me to determine possible reasons for this error while doing the phonic wheel learning.
