@oem:
did you try to change baud rate? latency time?
does it work with other software?
I understand that for ELM interfaces is no need bridge pins.

There is no way to connect without physical connection!
Yes, you need to modify your ELM interface and bridge the pins.
You cannot connect to airbags with ELM. It is a limitation of ELM 327 v1.3.

Yani
it's a fake version....
I suggest an original 1.3+ elm327 version or the newest, but not cheap, 1.4 version.

So what I gather is this: If you have a laptop with no RS232 serial port, you cannot use an ELM327 USB>Serial as a K-Line/Vagcom clone? Because then this means that if you have no serial interface connector on your laptop, you can never access the airbags? Can someone confirm this perhaps? Thanks.

You CAN use your ELM 327 as K-line!

First of all you have 2 different ELM interfaces. One is with serial port (RS232) and one is with USB port. If you buy ELM327 with serial RS232 post and your laptop does NOT have serial port RS232 you CAN additionally buy adapter that convert serial port and USB port. When you get this adapter everything will work. Those interfaces need just some wires (2-3 wires) to read codes from engine ECU/ airbag ecu/ other ECU... In most ELM327 interfaces you have built in more than one protocol. So you have one protocol for VW vehicles also known as VAG COM and other protocols for other brands – vehicles…
