3.00 litre ducato software

good afternoon i just installed MULTIEUSCAN 2.9 in my laptop .i have a OBII i DIAGNOSTICS ELM interface. have i got the right connector as i can't connect yo my 2008 3.00 litre ducato i keep getting a connection fail reading READING ELM327/OBDKEY. SO so any help would be good as i am an old school mechanic with a high teck vechicle thank you.
