FAULTY ELM 327 INTERFACES DE-MYSTIFIED (READ HERE)
Re: FAULTY ELM 327 INTERFACES DE-MYSTIFIED (READ HERE)
Hello Stilo
Since this is a software problem (PIC), it is, unfortunately, not with hardware (Resistor) to resolve changes
So it's only a software change in the chips
But while there is still ELM is compatible this makes no sense

Hello
Your picture is very good to see
Your board has no bridge resistor
but the circuit mentioned in the first post with R25 / C14 + R26 / C15 to ground
So I guess we need more knowledge
Vehicle?
Model?
Motor?
Control?
And please make time a screen from Interface Test

Hi Eddy! thanks for the reply.
Vehicle: 2002 Audi
Model: TT
Motor: 1.8L
Control: iso 9141-2
I have a pic below, the first two commands (ATZ and 0106) are with a functioning ELM327 (a spare). You can see the ECU returns a value for the STFT.
The second two commands are with the ELM327 that is no longer functioning properly. The ATZ command worked, but the STFT request returned "CAN ERROR". The two ELM327 adapters are identical - same purchase time from the same vendor. Like I said previously, the adapter that is no longer functioning was performing as the first adapter in the pic below, before I used the VAGlog software. What do you think?? Thanks!

Hello shotgun
As I thought you have no Italian vehicle but an Audi
Therefore, I can say little to
Because it is now so that many ELM no longer function even in Multiecuscan and this is due to the software on the Pic of the board
With many of the interface worked smoothly still 2 years ago
no longer running MES
This has nothing to do with ISO 15765, 9141, 14230, etc.
But the diagnostic software is no longer using the software on the interface (PIC) work together
Whether this is your problem, I can not say
Greeting Eddy
Edit:
I just saw that is used a special interface for the software VAGlog
The manufacturer TEXA, you have this interface in the picture?

Re: FAULTY ELM 327 INTERFACES DE-MYSTIFIED (READ HERE)
Thanks for the help, but I got it working again. I had to use the Set Protocol command to change it to the one for my vehicle (03). I thought the ATZ command would force the ELM to search for the correct protocol for my vehicle (because that is the default). My mistake...??? The Vagblocks program changed the protocol to "user 1" which had the wrong Baud rate. I used a free serial port monitor to "see what happened". This is the reason the Vagblocks program isn't working. I'll try to change the code to AT SP 3 and maybe it will work.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Hello everyone
Anyone who has problems connecting to CAN with this interface (see links with pics), but will connect to engine, the solution that is posted here really works (thank you guys).
Remove resistor 121 and problem solved. You can then connect to CAN.

Re: FAULTY ELM 327 INTERFACES DE-MYSTIFIED (READ HERE)
I have an ELM 327 that works fine in engine mode (reading from 7 pin) but I want to modify it so I can read ABS/AIRBAG and everything else. My car is 156 so no CAN here. Can someone confirm the following:
ABS - pin 1/7/9/12 connected through the switch where 7 originally was connected
AIRBAG - pin 3 connected through the switch where 7 originally was connected ( I see on supported vehicles that this would not work on 156 Airbag)
Climate - pin 9 through the switch where 7 originally was connected or 1 to 6, 9 to 14 and 12 to 7 how it´s presented on the Support vehicles page?

Hello
With an ELM interface can read no airbag at Alfa 156
this you need a KKL Interface
For my 156 I have front 5 - 6 years built this KKL
Sorry built it gives me no longer possible to adjust images in this forum
