Conection to Alfa 164 V6 24v ECU

Post by Grilzz »

Hello!

I'm having problems connecting to my Alfa 164 3.0 V6 24v Super 1995.

The cable that I'm using is a USB VAGKKL+FIATECUSCAN with a switch to switch between pins 7,3,1/9,12/13 (I had it switched to 7) and an additional 3 pin connector.

I had the car jumpwired and ignition set to ON and the two clamps connected to 12V DC power supply from the wires for the radio. The red LED on the connector was lighted when everything was connected.

I tested the connection in the settings -> interfaces... (interface 1 was set to K-line/VAGCOM). If I pressed the TEST button I was getting reply that something was going through.

After that I selected Alfa 164 Super V6 24v and tried to connect but it doesn't connect.

If maybe somebody could help me out a bit. Because I'm trying to find the problem why the car doesn't start.

Maybe your ECU is not supported...
Did you found right connector? Sometimes they have more connectors...
Did you try to click on F11 "Scan" button? Try to click on it and see what happens.
FES should find your ECU.
If does it not find it then probably your ECU is not supported...

Hello!

Thanks for the reply. I also sent you a mail on your website.
I'll try to connect again this weekend as I'll have more time to work on the car.

I connected to the connector closest to the ECU and also tried the Scan button. Every result was the same. It's waiting for the connection but after time it says that is unable to connect. It could be the issue with the latency that you and Boris were talking about. After pressing test button the numbers were around 200ms, so maybe the "high latency" checkbox will solve the issue. Will try to post some pictures to see if I am doing it right.

On http://www.alfaromeo164register.com/ I have found another software and I need to see if I have more luck with this one in case if I cannot connect with MultiEcuScan.

I have heard that you are having problems again with the weather and floods in Bosnia. Is everything OK in Sarajevo?

Dear Sarajevo, can you solve my issue? I have using ELM327 to scan my Marea 2.4 20V, petrol (like Marea 155 2.0, Bosch Motronic ME 3.1), and other vehicles about 1 year. I received last week a chinese VAG-KKL:

1) Interface properly installed like USB-SERIAL CH340 at Device Manager (COM6) in Windows XP-SP3

2) MES "Scan Interfaces" = found, BUT another COM port (3). For MES, COM6 do not exists! (nerver mind...)

3) "Interface Test" on COM3:

VagCom/KKL

Testing latency with 200 bytes of data...
Min latency: 9
Max latency: 12

Testing timers...
(The acceptable tolerance for results is ~5 ms)

System supports high resolution timer.

Testing timer with 1000 ms...
..result: 1000 ms

Testing timer with 250 ms...
..result: 314 ms

Testing timer with 750 ms...
..result: 965 ms

Testing timer with 100 ms...
..result: 127 ms

BUT... no connection with any modules of my Marea 2.4 (Engine or Airbag)

Should be very high latency for connections?

Right know all is OK. No flood anymore.
Boris hat alo some problems wiht connecting to 164 petrol ECU and as I can remember he succeeded to connect by setting latency to 2 (before was 1).
You can try it. I have also "DnEcuDiag" program but I do not think your ECU is supported.

I really do not know what could be a problem.
I have one working KKL interface and the other one is dead.
The other one died during one testing process with FES/MES...
