can't setup com port

Post by tony811976 »

Hi, and I hope you can help me, I have purchased the vag kk lead and coloured leads to read my fiat panda.
I installed the com port drivers from the disk supplied and inserted the vag-com cable in the USB, the computer installed the drivers but it is listed as a kk vag-com lead not a USB com port, what did I do wrong,?

I previously tried a windows 7 laptop, installed the com port drivers first time but it kept saying I didn't have permission to use the port when I tried to connect to the car, so this is why I tried windows 8 but have had less luck

Hello Tony

Try it again with this driver.
Because often the drivers on the enclosed CD are very old.

http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

And you should Multiecuscan run as administrator.
right mouse button / Administrator

Hi, those drivers were tried and we installed the .net framework too, it still is recognised as a vag.com km line cable in device manager
. How do I tell the laptop I want it recognised as a usb com, port?

Hello

It's the same with whatever name your Windows KKL interface will recognize?
The main thing it is recognized

You've installed the driver and set the comport in Multiecuscan.

Then, a reading should work

Hi,
I am having the same problem. I have installed the latest drivers, plugged in the usb lead and it installs in other devices as VAG KKL 409.1 with a caution saying 'The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)'. Does anyone know why it is not showing up in PORTS (COM & LPT) ?
I am running Win 8.1 with Net framework 3.5.

Thank you

Are you using the drivers from the manufacturer of the interface? Which one?

I first used the drivers that came on a disk with the lead. I then tried using the latest drivers from the FTDI website. I also use a program called FTClean which uninstalls all FTDI drivers and then tried again. Still no joy.
