Alfa 156 connection problems

Post by pingu »

Hello everyone, hope someone can help me out.

Problem looks like this:

I have an OBD cable, no affiliation with the seller:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBD-II-2 ... veQ5fTools

Does this cable work first off?

Alfa 156 year 2000.

Have set up multiecuscan carefully following all installation details, latency and so on. Cable installed ok.

Problem is it wont connect. COM3 and 4 work ok but no connection. Running Vista.

Tried EasyOBD just for a double check. COM ok, but error message is "check power and so on..." i.e USB.

Anybody have any ideas? Is this cable not KKL/K-Line?

This is not the cable you need.

But I think it will work with the next update of the program.
It is expected by the end of this month.
Just a little patience . . .

Thanks and sounding good?

BTW, do you know what differs from a Vag com and this? The power pin?

I don't know the difference for sure but I rather think it is the chip inside.

The difference between your scanner and VAG cable is this:
- VAG cable is suitable only for AUDI, VW, SEAT, and SKODA from 1992 till 2004 – to be suitable for ALFA, FIAT, and LANCIA you need to make some small modifications
- Your cable (OBD II v1.3) is multi protocol interface and it is suitable for many vehicles. It is very general program. You can connect so many cars but you can not read all modules on the car (ABS, engine, airbag…). For Europe market it covers cars with petrol engines from 2001 – present + for diesel cars 2003 – present. As I mentioned you can connect cars before 2000 can not read all modules.

Thanks for the info, though the cable I got won't connect so I ordered a VAG-Com from HK instead. We'll see how that works out. :D
