Timeout problem

Post by wucc »

I have bought a Chinese ELM327 before and it works fine to connect to the ECU of my 156 JTS.
Recently, I found there is a cable in the link claims that support all ECU, ABS and airbag modules and tailor made for Fiat/Alfa, so I bought it. http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/11192 ... ace_F.html
But I encounter a timeout problem when I test the connection using this cable.
Anyone knows the reason?
Thanks.

First of all interfaces shown in your link are cheap china ELM 327 clones.
Inside everything is more less the same and on the outside they have only different labels.
They will write anything in the advertisement but at the end you get same product.

Keep in mind that all elm interfaces do not work with airbags. ELM works with airbag system only on new cars – some of them starting already from 2006. Your 156 is not supported with ELM – you need KKL interface for that.

So looks like you have or problem with drivers, or with com port or something in settings is not right. Check everything and do not forget to connect interface both to PC and car and after that you can do test in settings menu.

Hello WUCC

For this interface, you need except for the ECU always a Adapater cable

Except for the air bag, it is not to be read with this interface
