A Challenge... Dare you take it ?

Post by kyle6789 »

I correctly followed the instructions to link a USB KKL to my alfa 156 using MES. Worked perfect first time, noticed the latency high message but functioned well. No fault codes, great ... now to reset the Airbag light... Disconnected the link using MES before pulling out the connector, changed the adapter ( I have the multi adapter kind of KKL cable rather than switched or the dodgy cheaper ones) ... plug it back in and ... nothing .... then I cant get the first adapter to work again either... I simply cannot get any connection from the cable to the car to work at all.

1: it surely cant be drivers, i had it working first time!
2: I have already decreased the settings under device manager.
3: The port numbers definitely match and I have played about with changing these.

Another clue to the puzzle is that when I search for interfaces on the settings section of MES it will not automatically find the connection, I have to do it manually.
Clue 2: When i test the manually set up connection it states ... VagCom/KKL Testing latency with 200 bytes of data... The operation has timed out.

So you wonderful people ... what is my problem and importantly my solution ?

Thanks In advance,

Kyle

Usually when you do test of VAG interface and you got message "The operation has timed out" it means your interface is not connected to car and ignition is off. So try to test it with connector plugged in the car and key ON!
