cant connect to ecu punto

Hi, You have probably heard it all before but here I go. I am trying to connect to ECU on Punto 03 1.2 8v. I have Multiecuscan free version 1.3 loaded onto laptop running win7 32bit. Com port drivers are the latest (2.08.24)and I am using a vagkkl cable I got from ebay (see link at bottom of post)
I have set up com port as per instructions including latency timer set to 1, i have settings as per instructions. interface test is good with results identical to screenshot. Scan for interface detects the interface ok. Its only when I try to connect to the ECU the the problem occurs. "Unable to detect ECU check cable and com settings"
I have tried using another laptop running Vista, again fresh download of MES and com port drivers
Everthing tests ok but when I try to connect to ECU the same problem as detailed above.

Any suggestions welcome

So you are trying to connect ot engine ecu?
Did you installed drivers for VAG COM KKL?

Ignition is switched on?

It can only lie in the settings
Check them again exactly
