ABS 5.3 Connection

Post by Mark Cooper »

Hi All, I have a fully paid for version of MultiECUScan and can connect successfully with the engine ECU.

But, when trying to connect to the ABS ECU, I get an error message "wrong ISO code" and the iso code "ISO 6B 02 2A 10 7C unsupported".

I am selecting the correct vehicle - 1997 Spider Twinspark Phase 1.

How do I get around this as I need to activate the ABS pump to bleed an airlock from the ABS system?

Well, I guess that I wasted 50 euros on useless software. Lesson learned. I'll let all the Alfa Romeo boards know that this is a suspect bit of software and not to buy it.

Well, noone can reply that fast...
This ISO code is for Bosch 2SI ABS. It is different from ABS 5.3 and it is not supported by Multiecuscan yet.

Hi Yani, I must apologise for my outburst, but I am extremely frustrated with having spent 50 Euros on software that does not work. My Spider is a 1997 Twinspark so I would have thought that the ABS system is Bosch 5.3.

Do you have any suggestions in getting the ABS pump to activate so that I can purge an airlock?

Thanks

It is only possible with Examiner. It doesn't matter which version as even the oldest Examiners support this ABS module.

Mark

Whilst ABS systems can be purged by electronic activation of the internal pump it is also possible to purge them with two other methods:

1) Low pressure brake fluid feed into the resevoir and allowing plenty of fluid to be driven out of each of the brake lines
2) Traditional pedal pump bleeding process - far more tedious and time consuming but still usually effective.
