Multiecuscan

I have a USB OBD2 ecu cable which worked on my old Mk3 VW Golf deisel. It worked with Vagcom 409 on that car. I now have a Fiat Marea weekend 1.9 JTD and this cable will not connect using Fiat ECU Scan. Do I need another type of cable and, if so, any recommendations?

My old cable only has 5 pins in the connector.

where did you get stuck?
Does not your computer recognize the cable?
Does not FES recognize it?
Did you get any "cable" error from FES?

I should have persevered. I have now connnected with my ECU sucessfully (MAREA 01JTD 110 CF3). Checked for USB/serial converter com port number in windows device manager and then correct ECU. That was all it was, just my impatience got in the way.
