Poor logging speeds with OBDlink

Post by FiatFan »

2019 FIAT 124
OBDlink SX
Dell Latitude 7280
Win 10 pro

I've setup the COM port per the Multiecuscan User Guide.pdf, but I can't get better than 1s intervals while data-logging, and that's only trying to log 7 parameters. Less parameters does not increase the refresh rate. Adding more parameters certainly increases it; 1.5s with 10 parameters.

Any ideas?

What's frustrating is that it'll log at a 0.5s refresh rate with OBDlink's application, but of course it doesn't have all the FIAT specific monitors like Multiecuscan does.

Sorry if I'm not asking the right questions; I'm still learning this stuff.

I think the issue is it's polling on the OBD protocol which will never really get better than about a 2Hz refresh rate.

Can Multiecuscan log data directly from the CAN bus for real-time information, and if so how do you set that up?

I don't often chime in here as being MOD I'm often fire fighting the spammers and also do not use my MESthat often can certainly not when is comes to messing with Proxi configs etc.

Anyway ....

Have you checked that you OBDLINK is set in the setting to run at high speed. I think is would normally default to 115,200 rate. Check it is not running any slower than this.

Have you checked the recorded data log file as to how often/fast the samples are bering taken? MES's own graphing display will be *much* slower than the rate at which the samples are actually being taken. This is what you may be seeing.

Yep, it's set to 115200 both in the COM port settings in Windows and the interface settings in MES. You can see in the datalog file the refresh rate is a little over 1.5s.
