AGM battery and Stelvio
AGM battery and Stelvio
The EFB battery is failing in my Stelvio 2.2 diesel, and it seems a AGM battery is better, I understand that a new battery has to be be registered with the cars ECU, can MultiECU do this for me?

Had a look around in MES and can not find anything with battery replacement. I did find a option you have to execute if you replace the intelligent alternator.
You can put a AGM battery in an EFB system, but buy a good brand battery (expensive) like a Varta or a Bosch battery. In most cases you can put a bigger size battery in. When the cars come out of the factory (don't know it is the same with Stelvio) they have a too small battery for the size of the tray they are in. Bigger is better in this case.
Make sure you don't lose power on the car, hook the car up to a second battery via the jump points under the hood, so that the car doesn't lose its memory.

I believe that the need for registering a new battery is one of those false stories that get spread.
After battery replacement the Intelligent Battery Sensor and associated software will take a while to recalibrate automatically. Until its done so any readings of Battery State of Charge may be wrong.
