Alfa 147 2004 - Which cable / bluetooth adaptor

Hi guys,
I've just found this forum and looked at a way I could connect my Alfa 147 to the MultiEcuScan.

The main issue I found is choosing the right cable and the right bluetooth adaptor for my smartphone.

I see various cables for different car makes, and I've used some for BMW in the past.
Is it the same interface and the same FTDI chip?

As for bluetooth adaptor, I found devices which cost ~£4 and some which cost >£80.
As far as I know, I should look for an ELM327 adaptor, but what is the difference between the different brands?

Any advice on a particular option on Amazon or eBay or else will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

MES only works on a Windows PC or on an iPhone/iPad.

As for cables if using other generic EOBD software then see: https://www.multiecuscan.net/SupportedVehiclesList.aspx

Here you will see what is required for the Alfa 147 vehicles.

Thanks.

I've managed to install the MutliECUScan and will try with my current cable.

I've also installed the OBDwiz which can recognize the USB cable.
With OBDwiz, when I click connect, it tries to establish a communication with the interface, but then it fails with the following error:
"Command timed out".

As I said, the The USB interface has been recognized in the list.
The same interface works on the same computer with another software and successfully connects to the car.
What error could it be?

Thanks.
