TRW 3 Steering Angle Calibration.

I have a Fiat Bravo MK2 which has had the power steering fail

The replacement used electrical power steering unit works perfectly apart from showing an error C1103, which clears fine but returns upon ignition off and on.

It has the TRW 3 steering unit. With integrated torque/ steering angle sensor.

It has had a proxi alignment and has learnt the correct vehicle type.

I got someone who has MES to try to do a steering angle calibration. Which I don’t know if it worked

The software said to set wheels to straight ahead and execute the command. Upon running it it says to read the notes then proceed.

It then finished and says status 02

I thought that it would say steer left then press ok. Then right and ok. Then back to centre then ok.

But it just seemed to finish. It did set the wheel position as 0. But it still says turn ratio invalid.

What is status 02?

Had this failed? What is the procedure? Are we doing something wrong?

Many thanks

C1103 = ABS Hydraulic Brake Switch Circuit Failure
C1103 = Circuito interruttore freno idraulico

Thanks

I believe that the C1103 code when in the power steering ECU is for a configuration error.

MES lists it as Controll unit faulty, but that seems to be a generic description

Hello mate (mlloyd) I’m having the exact same issue ie replaced steering column all working but light on and c1103 set. I’ve done proxi alignment comes back as all ecus matched also steering angle sensor calibration is ok but still get config fault for steering ? It does clear and drives fine but comes back on with cycle of ignition. Hopefully you see this and can shed some light on it. Thanks for your time. Andy
