Just few information’s about ELM 327...
ELM 327 is a small chip. The newest ELM 327 small chip that was released is version 1.4 and it cost 19.00 CA $. More information about this chip you can find on http://www.elmelectronics.com/.

On eBay people are selling complete ELM interfaces with different protocols built inside (for different cars). All this versions on eBay that are called v1.3a or v1.5a are cheap Chinese clones. In most cases this clones work really good. But sometimes they stop. No one can give you a warranty.

Example: right now the clone version that is called ELM 327 v1.5 which you can find on eBay for 50.00 US $ got built in cheap copy of ELM 327 chip version 1.3.
I don’t think that Chinese people will buy original chip from Canada and that they will install it to their interfaces. Maybe some small European companies are making these interfaces with original ELM 327 chips but I am not shore which one.
