but in reality it is not needed.

Hi, yes, confirming this: adapter 5 (which works as I've built it myself and tested on other modules with no problems) is requested by MES to connect to the "Body\Radio frequency hub (RFHUB) Continental" of Alfa Giulia (2017) but if used there's no communication.
It works instead straight without using the adapter.
