Fiat barchetta Airbag communication issue

Dear Yani,

I have a Fiat barchetta naxos with the OBD2 16 pins connector.
I have a problem with my airbag control unit (as very often).
I tried to communicate with it by using the Cantiecar physical interface and Multiecuscan sofware but without success.
Sebastian from obdauto told me that it could be possible that a patch has to be created to be able to communicate with barchetta airbag control unit.
If I am not mistaken this car is using the KWP 2000 protocol (k line) what means that there is no BCU like with the can bus protocol so, by connecting a virgin airbag control unit the setting should be done automatically by the car itself and it would be possible to communicate with this airbag ECU to cancel all error messages?
Could you please confirm this or give me some information?
Could you please tell me if a new patch should be necessary to communicate with airbag ECU of Fiat barchetta by using of course Multiecuscan?
If it would be the case could you please tell me when this patch would be available?

Thank you in advance.
Kind regards.
Emmanuel.

I too have a Barchetta 2005 with the 16 Pin OBDII connector under the driver's seat.

An ELM device will NOT connect to the Airbag Unit. Have not tried my OBDLINK. HOWEVER a VAG/KKL interface connects every time and I can read all parameters and reset error codes.

I'm suspecting that the Cantiecar interface can not properly emulate a KKL interface exactly. Same with EML devices.

Suggest you try a KKL interface.
