Fiat punto 8v was able to connect but can’t now

As the title says. Using laptop win10 as a registered user had connected a few weeks ago seem to recall managed to reset “fuel trims”? So engine lamp has Ben flashing not constant and now unable to connect. Using a obd lead with usb into laptop get back unable to connect check cable. As mot is due end of Jan I need help. Car is running fine.
