Some suggestions

Post by Deckchair5 »

Hi Yani
What a fantastic job you're doing.

FONT SIZE
Just trying the new version 2.0 some of the lettering is so large that it is going off screen. See Fiat Stilo 1.6 "engine" on the start up screen as unreadable as it doesn't scroll, maybe a smaller font? Hovering over it brings up the full description though so it's not a big problem but the font is a little larger than it need be anyway

TEST OR SIMULATION MODE
Many diagnostic programs have a "test" or "Simulation" mode where you can see the rest of the screens and what it can do even if you can't connect. At the moment, if you can't connect then you can see no further. It doesn't have to be a full running simulation as they are of limited use but it would be nice to see "behind the door" even if you can't connect just yet or you just want to view the program without connecting to the car

HELP FILE
Help file would be useful at the start up screen as no one will have any idea what to do with the Service interval reset

PICTURES
Can we have more pictures as this is a multi lingual program and things don't translate well

LTFT and STFT
I haven't found Long term fuel trim and short term fuel trim unless these have a different name. These are very useful and I would think easy to put into the program (unless they're already there and I missed them)

Thank you greatly for filling a huge need for Fiat, Lancia and Alfa owners everywhere

What is your screen size? From my point of view it is good to have the font as large as possible for diagnostics, and with this font it looks good even on a 9" 1024x600 eeepc.
Anyway, it is a good idea to add the font size as a setting.

Actually, I have already done that for the commercial version... I just forgot to mention it in the list of functions.

I've started working on that, but don't have enough time to spend on it as I'm getting a lot of pressure for adding more and more ECUs.

What you mean by "things don't translate well"?

Which engine/ECU?

Hi Yani
That's good if you've put a simulation mode into the program as that will make it a much stronger selling point. People want to view the whole program and what it can do before they buy and most of gthe program isn't visible if you can't even connect to your car

The image below is from a laptop screen size of 1024 x 768. As you can see it's not possible to know what the engine options are as the lower description disappears because of the unnecessarily large font size

Pictures would help more than descriptions on the forum of OBD connector pin bridging, especially if ELM323 pins have to be modified too like the VAG COM connector, pictures of port settings, where to change latency, showing steps of how to do service interval reset as no one will have done that before etc

Hanz has provided a very common used LTFT and STFT readout picture and these figures are very useful for analysis of engine injector problems. I would have thought they were one of the easy paramaters to add in as most diagnostic programs have them and technicians are used to using them for fault analysis.

The parameter graphs in ver 2.0 seem harder to read clearly than previous versions which had more separation distance between the traces. The scaling is on maximum 10x here for the horizontal but it's difficult to see anything clearly.

unclear graph output. Maybe grey background would be better? Graph options for colours of traces etc need to be on this screen

Sorry, I don't have any documentation on these functions.
