2012 Ypsilon 1.3 multijet

Hi Folks,
I have read the documents showing which vehicles/modules are supported and could someone confirm that I have the correct understanding.
As all the modules listed for the Ypsilon 1.3 are in red (Except for CAN info) none can be accessed using the free version.
Only an ELM327 or OBDKey with or without the yellow connector can be used.
I down loaded the free version 3 software to make sure I could connect and use the software but at the moment I can't get it to connect at all using a ELM or VAG cable with or without the yellow adapter cable. I am using a Toshiba Portege laptop (1.3Ghz) with vista and have got all drivers installed for the cables. Have checked port settings and tried different ports and speeds. Looks like it is connecting and then times out. Tried high latency setting.
Then I reread the information given and realised the free version is of little use for the Ypsilon.
Am using other diagnostic tools for Ford, GM, BMW, Citroen without any difficulties at all.
Any help/ advice welcome.
