Proper execution of the "oil change" procedure
Posted: 09 Mar 2016, 05:47
Hi,
I changed the oil on our 500L 1,3D.
Connected to the ECU with MES and selected "Adjustments" / "Oil change (only for versions with DPF)" -
to reset the oil dilution counter.
The procedure ecxecuted without failure. After that it, told me to turn the "key to off": I turned off ignition.
Turning on the ignition, I reconnected and read out the parameters of the last oil change wich still told me the milage / km of the last oil change (not the current km) and that the oil quality is 34% (instead of 100% for new oil, which I expected from the procedure description).
Starting the procedure a 2nd time, leads to an error "failed to execute"
Did I everything correct?
- "turn the key to off" (after procedure execution) refers to the ignition key - I assume.
- After turning off ignition: do you have to wait a certain time before turning back on ignition? At some other procedure description there was a timeout of 40s mentioned to allow the ECU for programming the value. Maybe something similar applies here too?
- I did NOT do the service reset before the oil change reset. Because I did only change the oil this time! Are the two related? That is, do you have to execute the service reset before you can execute the oil reset?
- Does the engine have to run while executing the procedure? Usually I do everything only with ignition on but engine not running.
- Do you have to start the engine / move the car a bit before the changes are visible in the parameters?
Btw.: I did the with MES 2.4. Upgraded to 2.9 yesterday, and will retry with the latest version. Will report here.
Your tips and experiences are highly appreciated!
Thank you in advance
Regards,
Michael
