Problem with "cheap" elm327 interface and Alfa 159

Hi everybody
I'm new here, my name is Federico, I'm 21 and I study engineering in Milan.
I'm trying to use multiecuscan to access the engine's ECU of my Alfa Romeo 159 2.4 jtdm (Diesel) model year 2009, but I'm having some troubles with the elm interface that I bought on Amazon.
It is labelled as "ELM 327 Interface USB V1.5a", and it probably is a simple chinese clone.
It looks exactly like this one.
I know that many of this clones need a modification in order to connect to Can circuits, but (correct me if I'm wrong) it should work fine as it is with the main engine ecu.
On a Windows 7 X64 pc, I installed the drivers I found in the mini cd they sent along the interface cable (the pc shows the interface as USB-SERIAL CH340), set the com port speed to 38400bps (as recommended) and launched multiecuscan.
I set the right port, the right protocol and the right speed, but the software is unable to connect to the ecu, and the Interface Connection Test gives me this error:
I tried again with a Windows 8.1 pc wich auto-detects the peripheral without installing any driver, but I got the same error.
At first, I thought that the interface itself was broken, but then I tried another software (Scan Master ELM), and it kinda worked (the software allows you to monitor just few parameters, but it worked).
Now I'm really wondering what could be the issue. Do you guys have any idea?
Can someone explain me what ATSPC command is?
Really hope someone could help me solve this
