VAG-COM Issue

Hello everyone!
I have recently purchased a VAG-COM interface cable and I can not quite make it run. I know that there are many topics alike but I really can not get anything from them...
The situation is:
When I try step by step as written in the manual and install the FTDI driver, when I enter the Settings menu in the MultiEcuScan and ask for Interface scan i get "Access to the port 'COM5' is denied.". I preset the Latency timer as mentioned. I have tried with a couple of different versions of the FTDI drivers both D2XX and VCP and I still can not pull it off. As far as I read the recommended one is CDM20814. I have tried it and the newer ones from the same version, the result is the same. Is there another option that should be marked in the Serial port setting or in the program?
I tried the windows recommended drivers as well and this time when I run an Interface test is says something about timed out connection and afterwords when trying to connect to the car's ECU "No ECU response"
I have the framework set alright, I have tried with disabled Firewall, Antivirus, Internet.
I am using the latest (1.9 MES) version. It is a Chinese cable (maybe I should've start with that). Perhaps the cable is messed up? The car is Alfa Romeo 147, 1.6, 120bhp.
