Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2.0 JTDM with 170 HP

Hello,

I am for two weeks now the happy owner of a "new" Giulietta.
It is a 2010 MJ, has the 2.0 JTDM Diesel engine and 170HP.

Sadly this exact car is not in the selection list. I am using OBDKey and the only thing I was able to connect to was the "Engine", nothing else!

What modell can I use?

Or is it possible to add the named Alfa !? That would be great! :)
If I can help somehow, I will sure do!

Thanks a lot!

Cheers

Hello

If your model is not in the list??
The 2.0 is still available?
With the adapter you can only OBDkey without the engine ECU and the steering always read (even if Selespeed available)

Otherwise you need the adpater A3 or a modified interface

Hello Eddy,

thanks for your reply!

I tried to use the "Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2.0 MultiJet 16V" with my OBDKEY. Don't know what the difference between MultiJet and JTDM is, but well it was working a little, lets say.
I was at least able to connect to the "Engine" and the "Electric Steering".
Sadly nothing else! :-(

When I read the "Supported Vehicles List" I would also expect to be able to connect to the "ABS", but sadly when I try this I get an error message!
I can't retell exactly, but it was something about ELM 327 Interface or something !?

When I want to modify my OBDKEY, to match "OBDKEY C19" what do I have to do?
It says: "CAN lines connected to pins 1 and 9 instead of 6 and 14".
Is it ok if the Pins 6 and 14 are still connected; so lets say in parallel with 1 and 9 or do I have to disconnect 6 and 14 completely?

And does this modification help with my "ABS Connection Problem" ?

Thanks a lot!

Cheers
Harleyhos

PS: I selected OBDKEY 1.4 in the settings of MultiECUScan, do I have to select something else, if I want to use the ELM Interface integrated in the OBDKEY !?

Hello

Your OBDkey works as it should
To read the other controls, it is easiest
to use the A3 (yellow) adapter.

http://www.ebay.de/itm/151015670657?_tr ... EBIDX%3AIT

For a direct connection CAN generate read errors and your OBDkey is only one side usable

The OBDkey is much better than the ELM interface, since it can also read the minutes of the KKL interface.
One interface for all controls

Hello Eddy,

I am still a little confused! Hope you can help me a bit more! :-)
On the "Supported Vehicles" List it says:
Bosch EDC16C39 CF5/EOBD Diesel Injection (1.6, 2.0) |INFO|DTC|DTC EX|PRM|ACT|ADJ| ELM OBDKey
Marelli SELESPEED/DDCT CFC8TDF Automatic Gearbox |INFO|DTC|DTC EX|PRM|ACT|ADJ| ELM OBDKey
Continental MK60EC ABS |INFO|DTC|DTC EX|PRM|ACT|ADJ| ELM OBDKey
BOSCH Airbag (Ep - PROXI) |INFO|DTC|DTC EX|PRM|ACT| ELM C19OBDKey C19 A3
ZF Electric Steering |INFO|DTC| ELM OBDKey
Service Interval Reset (Siemens) |INFO|ADJ| ELM C19OBDKey C19 A3
Convergence Lauberhorn (Blue&Me) |INFO|DTC| ELM C19OBDKey C19 A3

Body Computer Marelli |INFO|DTC| ELM C19OBDKey C19 A3
CAN Info |INFO| ELM C19OBDKey C19 A3
CAN Setup / PROXI Alignment Procedure |INFO|ADJ| ELM C19OBDKey C19 A3
Marelli climate control (Dual zone) |INFO|DTC| ELM C19OBDKey C19 A3

Driver's Seat LEAR |INFO|DTC| ELM C19OBDKey C19 A3
Parking Control VALEO |INFO|DTC|DTC EX|PRM|ADJ| ELM C19OBDKey C19 A3
Passenger's Seat LEAR |INFO|DTC| ELM C19OBDKey C19 A3

So I understand this list, that with a NOT MODIFIED OBDKEY I can connect to Engine,Gearbox (if Selespeed), ABS and steering.
So how come I can not connect to ABS ??
What do I have to do to be able to connect to ABS?
Do I have to select more than OBDKEY in ther "Interfaces Tab"?

I have to modify the OBDKEY OR buy adapter 3 to be able to connect to all the other devices in my car!
But I am not 100% sure how to modify the OBDKEY!
On one hand it says "adapter cable 3" which has those changes: 6->1, 14->9 AND 7->12 !
On the other hand it says "C19", which I understand, that I only have to change 6->1 and 14->9 !

So do I have to change 3 pins now, or only 2 ?
And the last thing.
Am I right, when I modify my OBDKEY I won't be able to connect to engine, gearbox, ABS and steering any more !?

Hope you would be so kind and help me understand the whole thing for a last time! ;-)

Thank you very much for your patience!

Cheers and have a nice weekend!

Hi Harleyhos,

I would not advise you to modify your OBD key interface. It is very expensive interface and it would be bad to destroy it with extra wires. I would advise you to buy extra set of cables. They are not expensive and they last long especially if you are using them from time to time. If you have extra money you can buy MES multiplex version and you do not need any modifications - it is selected automatically.

If you are not sure is your ABS system supported or not I would advise you to use "Scan" button (not scan DTC). This way you will know is ABS system on your gullieta is supported or not. Keep in mind that some systems are still not supported. So maybe your ABS is not supported yet. But it will be soon. Also keep in mind that sometimes it won’t connect at first try. Sometimes you need to try and try and next day try until it connects. Happened to me on few new cars 2008-2010. After 30 minutes of trying I finally had success.

Hello,

I did both. First I modified my OBDKey directly. But as I realized that I than won't be able to connect to the other control units I reverted the modification and build myself a correct adapter (AC3).

Now I tried it in my car. I still was not able to connect to the ABS unit, all other units worked, as far as I can remember.

BUT strangely the "SCAN" button doesn't work at all!! If I hit it, it doesn't find ANY ECU in the car !!??

But when I select one ECU directly it can connect.... any idea on that?

I tried many many times to connect to the ABS ECU.....it gives me ABS Warninglamps, but then rejects connection.
I think Yani has to look into it, I guess there is still a problem....

Thanks a lot!

Cheers
