Disable Alfa 159 Steering Lock?

It would be great, if the steering lock on Alfa 159 could be disabled.
The one of my car is not working anymore, no locking when I leave the car. The connect with multiecuscan ist not possible. Everytime I enter the car it welcomes me with the annoying message "vehicle protection system not available".
Well, I don't need the steering lock. So instead of replacing it, I would prefer to get rid of the message.
